How do I reset a tripped circuit?

 

If a circuit is tripped, you will need to locate your breaker panel. You will need to identify the tripped breaker by looking to the one that is neither in the "ON" or "OFF" position. You can also identify it quickly by looking for the orange or red one. Push the the switch to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position. The breaker should now be aligned with all the rest of the breakers on your panel. Check to see if it is working. If you are unable to reset the circuit breaker, call to prevent further damage.

Why does my circuit always trip?

GFCI is a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter. It's used to measure the resistance on the positive and negative electrical loads that are connected to it. They are usually located in areas that are near water like the kitchen and bathroom. It will detect any unsafe levels of electrical current and should cause it to trip. This helps to protect you from electrical shock.

Most electrical fires are caused by faulty electrical outlets and old, outdated appliances. Other fires are started by faults in appliance cords, receptacles and switches. ... Removing the grounding plug from a cord so it can be used in a two-prong electrical outlet can also cause a fire.
